Some mid-week booty shakin’ goodness right here. This one was crowding the nation’s dance floors this very week, back in 1975.

California now joins the rest of the nation in the scary upswing in covid cases. This is absolutely no joke, people! Shelter in place and only go out when it is absolutely required. When you do go out, it should only be for essential items (doctor visits, welfare checks, groceries – although those can be delivered); and when you do go out, wear a mask (!!!), wash your hands, don’t touch your face.
I know the holidays are coming, but the easiest and fastest way to transmit this is by in-house gatherings with multiple people. If you’re going to have a get together, then you need to make sure all attendees quarantine for 10 to 14 days.
Period. Full stop.
To say “well, we can’t stop living” has got to be one of the lamest things I’ve ever heard. 140,000 Americans are getting this per day and deaths are on the upswing. If you get this, especially if you’re in a high risk group, you might very well “stop living.”
Hugs and kisses,
Me.

To all who have served our country – thank you.
I know it’s supposed to be a non-political holiday, but with the current commander-in-chief (ie: loser), a few thoughts…
I can’t help but notice the fact that Donald Trump’s share of the military vote went down about 10% compared to 2016. Of course, we shouldn’t be surprised after that despicable excuse for a human being referred to those who lost their lives in battle as “losers” and “suckers.” And as I type, he and his campaign are aggressively fighting against mail-in election ballots which include an overwhelming number of military votes.
So, Happy Veterans Day to our good soldiers. One day to honor your service to our country is but a small token of our appreciation.
And our apologies for your commander-in-chief these last four years. We are pleased that you will soon be in more capable hands this January 20.
During her second stint at WMAQ-TV, Marin also worked for Chicago’s PBS station, WTTW. This video pays proper tribute to Carol, and showcases why many people considered her the best reporter in the business. She was straight forward, tough (she played hardball way better than Chris Matthews), yet compassionate and professional. They don’t make them like her anymore.
WTTW paid tribute to Carol this past Thursday evening. (Starts at 35:09.)
Carol Marin’s home base of 35 years was Chicago’s powerhouse NBC station, WMAQ-TV. They also paid tribute to Carol this past Friday night.
Enjoy retirement, Carol. It is so well deserved.
More on the career of the best broadcast journalist on the TV machine, Carol Marin, who retired last week after almost 50 years in the business. Born in Chicago and raised in the suburbs there, Marin started her career as a reporter in Tennessee, where her husband was a university professor. Her superb brand of reporting in 1977 led to the downfall of that state’s governor.
THIS is true broadcast journalism at its best.
Former 54 Seconds front man, Spencer Gibb, and his cousin, Samantha Gibb (of Samantha Gibb & the Cartel and M.E.G.) recently finished recording together as alt-pop duo, The Ghost Twins. This is the superb first single from the upcoming EP, “Silver Linings.” The song shines with their gorgeous vocals, as well as the string and horn players from Spencer’s last solo album, “Let’s Start Over” (which is also an excellent set of music). Click play and enjoy…

Lest we forget, the man is an authoritarian fascist, in every sense of both words:
Ezra Klein: “The Trump administration’s current strategy is to go to court to try and get votes for Biden ruled illegitimate, and that strategy explicitly rests on Trump’s appointees honoring a debt the administration, at least, believes they owe. One of his legal advisers said, ‘We’re waiting for the United States Supreme Court — of which the President has nominated three justices — to step in and do something. And hopefully Amy Coney Barrett will come through.’”
“If that fails, and it will, Mark Levin, one of the nation’s most popular conservative radio hosts, is explicitly calling on Republican legislatures to reject the election results and seat Donald Trump as president anyway. After Twitter tagged the tweet as contested, Trump’s press secretary weighed in furiously on Levin’s behalf.”
The Biden campaign and the Democratic Party better be ready to fight this shit. I don’t trust the federal courts in the least.
More Carol Marin clips. This set is an awards composite from the late 80s. (And at 16:28 features a segment on Chicago’s infamous Baton Show Lounge.)

From NPR:
“President-elect Joe Biden named 13 health experts to his Transition COVID-19 Advisory Board on Monday, advancing his plans despite uncertainty over how much the Trump administration will cooperate amid its ongoing legal challenge to the election results. The coronavirus has spread at alarming rates in the U.S. in recent weeks.
“The panel will be co-chaired by three people: former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. David Kessler of the University of California, San Francisco; former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy; and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, an associate professor of medicine and epidemiology at Yale.”
